A group of five young women sits on a concrete ledge outside a school building, smiling at the camera. They are dressed casually, with three of them wearing matching yellow t-shirts that read "HDSC" along with plaid or solid-colored sweatpants. The other two wear different outfits—one in a light purple t-shirt that says "Student Council 24-25" and another in a black long-sleeve top with red plaid pajama pants. Their footwear includes sneakers and slip-on moccasins. The background features glass doors with posters taped to them, and the sun casts strong shadows behind them.

The Carlyle High School Student Council attended the Kaskaskia District of Student

Councils (KDSC) convention on March 11 at Belleville West High School.

There were a total of 10 schools and 290 students in attendance.

Carlyle brought 38 student council members and two advisers to the district convention,

which brings area leaders together to enhance their leadership skills.

During the event, CHS students connected with members of student councils of the

surrounding areas to learn about different fundraising ideas.

Carlyle senior Jacie Persing retired from the KDSC board at the convention.

“It was a great year serving as the KDSC president, and I’m super excited to see what the

new board will do for the KDSC,” said 2024-2025 KDSC President Jacie Persing.

Two Carlyle students were elected to serve on the 2025-2026 KDSC board.

Freshman Sawyer Johnson was elected as the media specialist, and sophomore Landry

Steinkamp was elected as the secretary.
