Eight students were inducted into the Carlyle High School chapter of the Sociedad

Honoraria Hispánica. The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for high school

students enrolled in Spanish and/or Portuguese.

Juniors or seniors who have earned a 90% or higher in Spanish class, have a 3.0 GPA,

and have completed at least three semesters of Spanish are eligible to be inducted into the

national honor society that is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and

Portuguese.

Tessa Hoffmann, Samantha Heinzmann, Kamille Salyers, Abigail Steinkamp, Katie

Rakers, Cameryn Pollmann, Meghan Edwards, and Addison Gansauer joined the 10 senior

members of the honor society’s Carlyle chapter, which was founded in 2011 and is advised by

Brian James.

Rhettick Steinkamp is continuing his studies in Spanish as a fourth-year Spanish student

and is one of the 10 seniors inducted during 2023-2024.

“(Joining the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica) provided me the opportunity to work

towards a goal I wanted to achieve last year,” said Steinkamp.

Membership in this honor society helps students stand out on their college application

and can make them eligible for different scholarships.
