Carlyle High School yearbook staff earned several awards in the annual Illinois

Journalism Education Association, IJEA, yearbook contest for the 2024 Tomahawk.

The annual student publication, which featured a Spotify-inspired theme, received an

honorable mention in the Division Two overall rankings.

To earn this, the staff placed in the top three of four different categories. They earned

second place in Copywriting, third in Coverage of Sports, third in Coverage of School Year, and

third in Graphics.

“I'm really proud of how my students were acknowledged for their creative spin on a pop

culture theme,” said yearbook adviser Gina Shook.

The staff also received honorable mentions in Divider Pages and Photography.

Senior and editor-in-chief Grace Edler is a returning staff member who worked on the

2024 yearbook.

“Working on this year's book has been a rewarding experience and makes me extremely

excited for the publication to be sent out to our students to commemorate their year,” said Edler.

While there are no extra copies of the 2024 yearbook, the new 2025 yearbook can be

ordered online at any time before April. Orders will also be collected at school during January

and March.
