CHS seniors Logan Fruend, Macey Golder, Makenna Reckling, and Rhettick Steinkamp
attended the student advisory meeting at the Kaskaskia College, Vandalia Center on October 1.
“The students were selected by the Carlyle High School social studies staff because they
have shown interest in the areas of politics and governance,” said social studies teacher Richard
Mix.
Illinois state senator Jason Plummer addressed the students before they were split up into
groups of 7-8 students to create a mock bill.
Each group had a different mock bill that they created and then presented to the other
groups and Plummer.
Students voted on which mock bill they thought was the best.
Fruend, Golder, Reckling, and Steinkamp will attend a follow up meeting in Springfield
in March 2025.
