Carlyle NHS Hosts Annual Blood Drive

By: Grace Edler

The annual fall Red Cross blood drive hosted by the Carlyle National Honors Society, or

NHS, will be held on Oct. 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the CHS gym.

The blood drive is open to the public. Donors must be age 16 and meet the criteria listed

on the American Red Cross website to participate.

Potential donors can sign up through an NHS member or through the American Red

Cross website.

NHS members work the blood drive as a part of their community service for the year.

They are also encouraged to find the donors themselves.

“The more blood donated, the more lives we save,” said NHS adviser Courtney Hayes.

Being in the NHS can help students earn college scholarships and stand out in their

applications. Specific scholarships for working the blood drive are given to students by the Red

Cross as well.
