Carlyle High School construction and agriculture mechanics students visited Red Bud
Industries and South Western Illinois College on Oct. 6 to explore career pathways.
“Students saw what SWIC has to offer in the way of vocational classes,” said
construction teacher Jon Behrens, “Students also visited with local companies that are more than
likely hiring.”
The trip allowed students to tour the campus Agriculture Department.
Students who attended the tour are currently a part of classes that build a house every two
years or study small engines, welding, and the design and direction of tools.
According to Behrens the trip gives insight to possible careers and post-graduation
schooling for these programs.
