Running the Pacer

All P.E. students at Carlyle High School completed the annual FitnessGram Pacer Test

on Sept. 18. The PACER test, or Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run, is a multi-

stage running test that measures an individual's aerobic capacity.

Every student is required by the state to complete the Pacer Test.

When asked what’s the reason students do the Pacer Test, P.E. Coach Boles said, “(This

test allows us) to track physical fitness and endurance.”

Many students liked certain exercises on the Pacer better than others.

“My favorite exercise was the running one,” said senior Rhettick Steinkamp.

In addition to running, students were tested on push ups and chin ups.
